Marking the Madeline McCann Anniversary

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

Today marks the first anniversary of the disappearance of toddler Madeline McCann from the holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal. Since that the story has never been far from the daily news headlines.

As a farther of a three year old boy, the story is one that I find particularly upsetting. I can only begin to imagine what Madeline’s parents, Kate and Gerry must be going through.

From early on in the investigation into Madeline’s disappearance, Gerry McCann started a blog to help chart the story and keep the campaign at the forefront of the publics attention. This blog, along with the official Find Madeline website which was given a facelift at the beginning of February this year.

Can You Help?

If you were in Praia da Luz or the surrounding area in the two weeks leading up to Madeleine’s disappearance on Thursday May 3, the police may be interested in any photographs you took while there.

In particular they would like any pictures that have people in them who you don’t know as opposed to scenery shots or pictures of just your own family. You can submit them to the police by visiting http://madeleine.ceopupload.com.

If you have any other information that you think may be of some use, then please contact our investigation line on +34 902 300 213 or email investigation@findmadeleine.com

My Plan of Action for the New Year

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

In my last post, Essential Housekeeping for the New Year, I wrote about how, for me, the dawn of a New Year is a time for reflection on the previous year and how it’s a fresh opportunity to look forward to the coming year and begin to formulate a plan of action that builds on the previous years successes, failures or short comings. Merry Christmas to one and all

Monday, December 24th, 2007

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all visitors and regular readers of this blog a very merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

For me, this year has been a very busy, both physically, mentally and emotionally. I’m therefore looking forward to spending the Christmas break with my family and taking the work free opportunity to kick back and relax, formulate ideas, plans and generally chill out.

Once again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Content development, Whose responsibility is it?

Friday, November 9th, 2007

When it comes to the search engine optimisation of a website it’s commonly known that ‘content is king’. The continued development of a website’s content is a key ingredient if you’re serious about long term search engine results for your websites. As someone working on the online marketing for many websites, one of the most common dilemmas I continually encounter is that of who should take responsibility for the continuing content development of a website. Should it be the client or should it be the SEO consultant as that is what they are being paid for? (more…)

Five classic YouTube movies to cheer up your day

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Web 2.0 has been described as being the next evolutionary step in the development of the web. It’s basic concept revolves around the idea of building web-based communities through social networking, social bookmarking, photo and video sharing websites.

The wikipedia definition of Web 2.0 gives an excellent outline of the true definition of this second generation of web based community websites.

Out of all the Web 2.0 sites out there, YouTube is without a doubt one of the market leaders in the rise of the Web 2.0 phenomena. It’s popularity has been meteoric from it’s initial conception in 2005. One year on in 2006 saw it become part of the mighty Google stable. The idea behind YouTube, like many successful web apps, is simple. Users can upload their short movie clips for others to search for and watch.

One of the biggest fans of YouTube is my two year old son. He is train and tractor mad and absolutely loves the extensive library of movie clips that’s available at the touch of a couple of search terms. His enthusiasm for watching movie clips on YouTube prompted my to think about my all time favorite clips which I thought I’d share with you.
